Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated: 29 October 2026
This policy covers Lunula for iPhone and its website. Lunula is published by Kaye Romero. For privacy questions or requests, email romerokaye04@gmail.com.
Your personal journal stays under your control. Lunula does not operate an account system or a developer backend that receives your journal, intentions or birth data. It has no advertising or third-party analytics SDK. Core astronomical calculations run on your iPhone.
Apple processes purchases and optional city-search or geocoding requests. If you email support or visit this website, the information described below is processed to handle that interaction.
Information stored on your device
Lunula stores journal entries, mood and energy ratings, intentions, completed rituals and preferences in local app storage. Preferences can include a name you enter, selected city and coordinates, favourite activities, reminder choices and optional birth date, time and place. The app also keeps a local recovery copy of its data file. Limited settings, such as your selected city and Pro status, are shared locally with Lunula’s widgets.
We cannot view this local content. Lunula does not provide a developer-operated cloud sync service. App data may be included in iCloud or computer backups according to your iPhone’s backup settings; Apple or your computer handles those backups.
Location and city search
Location permission is optional. Without a chosen city, Lunula uses a city associated with the device’s time zone. You can select a city by name through Apple Maps search; this sends the search query to Apple and saves the selected place on your iPhone.
If you choose “Use my current location”, iOS requests permission and Lunula obtains a one-time location. Apple’s geocoding service is used to identify the city. Lunula then stores the city name and coordinates rounded to two decimal places, roughly kilometre scale. The app does not continuously track your location or send it to the developer. You can revoke permission in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Lunula. Apple processes its services under Apple Maps & Privacy and Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Purchases and Apple services
Apple’s App Store and StoreKit handle prices, payments, subscription renewal and purchase restoration. The app checks purchase entitlements on the device to enable Lunula Pro. We do not receive card details or your Apple Account credentials.
Apple may provide aggregated download and sales reports and, depending on your Apple sharing settings, app diagnostics or crash reports. Lunula does not include its own analytics, advertising identifiers or third-party crash-reporting SDK.
Reminders and the Moon guide
Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone after permission is granted. They do not use a developer push-notification server. Notification permission can be changed in iOS Settings → Notifications → Lunula.
The optional Moon guide uses Apple’s on-device language model on supported iPhones with Apple Intelligence available. Questions and generated answers are processed locally, using context such as the selected city, current sky and optional birth-chart information. The guide does not send them to the developer. Availability depends on device, system version, language and Apple Intelligence settings.
Contacting support
If you email romerokaye04@gmail.com, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to provide. We use this information to answer your request and troubleshoot problems. Email is handled through Gmail, provided by Google, under Google’s Privacy Policy. Please avoid sending unnecessary journal entries, birth details, passwords or payment information.
This website
The site is hosted by Netlify. Website delivery and security can involve technical request information such as IP address, browser details, requested pages and timestamps. These pages do not use advertising, web analytics or tracking cookies. See Netlify’s Privacy Policy. External links and email services have their own privacy practices.
Use, sharing and retention
We use support correspondence to respond to you and maintain the service, and keep it only as long as needed for those purposes and any applicable legal obligations. Website requests are handled according to the hosting provider’s retention practices. We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising. Information may be processed by the service providers described above or disclosed where required by law.
Where data-protection law applies, processing for requested support and services is based on contract performance or our legitimate interests in support and security, with consent where required. Service providers may process information in countries outside your own under their applicable data-protection arrangements.
Deletion, backups and your choices
Settings → “Erase journal and settings” resets the active journal and preferences. A local recovery copy can remain in app storage after a reset. To remove the app’s local storage, use Delete App in iOS settings; offloading the app keeps its data. Manage iCloud and computer backups separately, because deleting the app does not remove existing backups. Deleting the app also does not cancel a subscription or remove Apple’s transaction records.
There is no Lunula account to delete. We cannot retrieve, export or erase journal content from our servers because we do not receive it. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of personal information we do hold, object to or restrict processing, or complain to a data-protection authority. Send requests concerning support correspondence or other information we hold to romerokaye04@gmail.com. We may need to verify the request.
Children and security
Lunula is a general-audience lunar calendar, not a service specifically directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information through support. If you believe a child has sent such information, contact us. We take reasonable measures to protect information we handle, but no system guarantees absolute security.
